The North Kansas City Kiwanis Club has a proud history. It was chartered on December 8, 1937, with 38 original members, meeting in the basement of the Ross Restaurant which was just north of the present CVS Pharmacy, Armour and Swift Streets. Later, the club moved to the Paradise Theater building and met on the second floor. Nelle Brooks was the chief cook. In 1961, the NKC Kiwanis moved to the Gold Buffet Restaurant, moved again in 1994, and then moved back the the former Gold Buffet-now Finnegan's.

Following the 1987 vote of Kiwanis International, the men's service organization became open to women. Becky Floyd became the first woman member of the NKC Kiwanis Club in 1989.

There are currently 26 active members of the North Kansas City Kiwanis Club doing vital service in our community.
